Danielle Harvey had an amazing year at Ivy Tech Community college in Madison. Danielle received a $1,000 adult scholarship in June 2015. Danielle is working towards a Human Service Associates Degree and currently has a 3.78 grade point average. She is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society and was elected Regional Student Government President of the Southeast Region.
A little over a year ago Danielle was working at a gas station but realizing that to provide a good upbringing for her three children she needed to fulfil her dream of going back to school to earn a degree. Danielle had previously attended classes at the college but various life challenges including the death of her brother had caused her to drop out. She was delighted to receive the scholarship award and was able to leave her job to become a full time student. Being selected to receive a scholarship gave Danielle a huge boost in confidence. She blossomed on the campus, became involved in student leadership and mentoring younger students.
Danielle will graduate in May 2017. The Loretta M. Burd Scholarship Award supported by Centra Credit Union members and friends has made a tremendous impact on Danielle and her family.
